Plain Dealings is coined from the term "the plain by the sea" and the continuance of the meaning is seen in the later name "Seaside " applied to the railroad station for many years. Plain Dealing extended from Doty's or the High or Skirt Cliff (behind St. Mary's Church in North Plymouth) to the Rocky Nook meadows, although the Cordage (Plymouth Cordage Company) land probably cover the territory more: most of the plain is now in Plymouth.
