Novelist: A fiction database which includes over 120,000 titles. Search by author, subject, or title. Special features include author read-alikes, book discussion guides, book talks, and feature articles. Novelist also has a database that specializes in children's literature from K-8.

Book Letters

Book Letters logo

Bookletters, a new service from Kingston Public Library and BookPage, offers book reviews and information on hundreds of authors, all easily accessible online. Readers can use the service either at home or at the library. To receive regular updates on books in special areas of interest, simply sign up for the BookLetters email newsletter service using an email address you check frequently. Reviews of recommended books in your favorite genres will be delivered right to your inbox.

Bookclub-in-a-box: Provides, among other things, discussion guides and tips for book clubs ("Never let your book club conversation hit a snag or run out of steam again!"). A two-year membership costs $22.00 and entitles you to a discount on the discussion guides you decide to purchase. You can also purchase discussion guides at list price if you are not a member.

Reading Group Guides: The online community for book groups.

Book Discussion Guides from Novelist: Fully developed guides, including information on the author, a plot summary, questions and answers, and suggested titles for further reading.

Kingston Public Library Book Group
The book group meets the first Thursday of each month, from 6:45 to 8:15 p.m. Newcomers are always welcome.

Wednesday Afternoon Book Group

Are you interested in joining a Book Group, but don’t have the time for the Required Reading? The Kingston Public Library invites you to come join with us at 1:30 on Wednesday afternoons. At this book group you can choose the book that you would like to share with others.

FictionFinder: FictionFinder is a project of OCLC Research that provides access to 2.8 million works of fiction found in the OCLC WorldCat database. With FictionFinder, you can search for books, eBooks, and audiobooks by titles, authors, ISBNs, and other information such as literary awards and book summaries. You can also browse the FictionFinder database by genre, fictional character, imaginary place or setting, and subject. Overbooked: A web site (formerly known as Book Links) for ravenous readers. Overbooked specializes in literary and genre fiction information.

Worldcat: World's largest network or library services and content. This site connects you to over 1 billion items in more than 10,000 libraries worldwide.

Overdrive:Checkout and Download Popular and Award Winning Audiobooks From The Comfort Of Your Home

Now your library never closes! With our new digital library patrons can browse, checkout, and download digital Audiobooks, anytime of day from anywhere in the world. The new online service is available by visiting our web site at www.ocln.org/eaudio.

The collection also includes fiction, classic literature, children’s, educational titles, and self-help.

Getting started is easy. The service is available to anyone who is registered at an OCLN library. Just visit our web site (www.ocln.org/eaudio), install the free software from our web site, then browse our collection and select the titles you want. When you’re ready, check out your materials by entering your library card and download the digital books to your home computer. Once downloaded, you can transfer them to your portable device, or burn the audio books directly to CD. When the lending period is up your digital books are automatically returned — so there are never any late fees!

Audiobooks (digital versions of traditional audio books on tape or CD) can be enjoyed on your PC or on hundreds of portable WMA/MP3 players. You can burn Audiobooks to CD and listen to them in the car or on any standard CD player.
