Reference Services
The Reference Staff is ready to answer your questions, assist you in computer use, provide library instruction, and direct your research requests. We will help you find a book in our collection, place a hold, or order it through the virtual catalog and interlibrary loan. Come to the Reference Desk in person, call 781-585-0517 or email the Reference Department.

Reference Collections
The print collection consists of dictionaries, general and specialized encyclopedias which cover a wide range of subjects; business listings and investment services including ValueLine and Morningstar; Massachusetts laws; consumer information; medical books; literary criticism; and history. Links to online databases can be found below.

Career Center: The library's career center has been moved to the shelves behind the reference desk. There you will find an assortment of books on test preparation, colleges, resume writing and career exploration. For more career assistance, check our online resource LearningExpressLibrary.

Photocopier: There is a photocopier available for public use. Charge is 20 cents per page.

Computers and Internet

There are ten computers available in the reference area and the meeting room for public use. Sign in at the Reference Desk for one hour of computer time. Each computer is equipped with Microsoft Office 2007 and high-speed Internet access. Computers in the reference area are attached to a color printer, but you must ask at the Reference Desk for color before printing. All printouts are 20 cents a page. The Library offers wireless internet access for laptops.

New England Ancestors
NEHGS is the oldest genealogical society in the country. For over 160 years, NEHGS has helped new and experienced researchers trace their heritage in New England and around the world. NEHGS databases are now available to Kingston Library card holders. Funded by Kingston Public Library.

Gale Virtual Reference Library
Gale Virtual Reference Library is a database of encyclopedias and specialized reference sources for multidisciplinary research. These reference materials once were accessible only in the library, but now you can access them online from the library or remotely 24/7. Because each library creates its own eBook collection, the content you see may vary if you use the database at different libraries (your school, your public library, or your office). Funded by MBLC.

Health and Wellness Resource Center
Provides instant access to carefully compiled and trusted medical reference materials. Includes nearly 400 health/medical journals, numerous reference volumes, over 700 health videos from partner Healthology, Inc., hundreds of pamphlets and health-related articles from 2,200 general interest publications in addition to a broad collection of Gale reference titles.
