Children’s Summer Reading Program

Summer Reading Program

Children entering grades K-6 in the fall are invited to sign-up for the Kingston Public Library’s Summer Reading Program. Sign-up in the Children’s Room any day between June 12 and August 9 and choose a book to keep from our Summer Reading Book Shelf. In addition, for every five books you read this summer, come back in and choose another book to keep. We’ll give you a reading log to keep track! You can celebrate with us at the end of the program at our annual End-of-Summer Reading Program Cupcake Party. This program is sponsored by the Kingston Public Library, the Friends of the Kingston Public Library, the Kingston Town Employees Union, the Massachusetts Library System, the MBLC and the Boston Bruins.

June 28th at 7pm – Laugh and Rock with Robert Rivest

Kick-off the Kingston Public Library’s Summer Reading Program with a great family program full of music and laughter. Robert Rivest will perform at the Duxbury Performing Arts Center at 7:00 pm in a one-of-a-kind program just for Summer Readers.

Tickets are required and we will happily hold them on call, but you will need to register online or by calling the library at 781-585-0517. This program is provided free-of-charge through the efforts of the Kingston Public Library, the Duxbury Free Library and the Duxbury Senior Center.

Wednesday July 18th at 1pm – Toto the Tornado Kitten

Toto the Tornado Kitten and his friend Jonathan Hall will visit Kingston on Wednesday July 18th at 1pm and share there remarkable story with us. Toto survived the Brimfield Tornado of 2011 with help of Brimfield EMT hero Jonathan Hall and his wife Amy.

Copies of the his book, Toto the Tornado Kitten, will be available for purchase and Toto will be available for petting!  Please register online using button below, and stay tuned for more information on cat rescue. This is a Kingston Community Fun Event.

This program will take place at the Kingston Recreation’s Reed Building located at 33A Summer Street.

July 31st at 1pm – Didgeridoo Down Under

Children ages 8-15 can register for a demonstration and workshop all about Didgeridoos.

The didgeridoo is a wind instrument developed by Indigenous Australians of northern Australia potentially within the last 1,500 years and still in widespread use today both in Australia and around the world. You’ll create and play a didgeridoo under the expertise of Didgerodoo Down Under Australian Funk Jammers.

Kids Book Group – Night Readers

Night Readers is a book group for children in the fifth and sixth grades.  We meet on the second Thursday of every month from 6 to 7:30.
