Fan Art Contest – Submissions due by June 22nd

Are you passionate about art?  Do you have a favorite television show, movie, celebrity, or cultural icon?  If so, then put your skills on display at the Fan Art Exhibit and Contest at the Kingston Public Library.

More than just something interesting to look at, fan art expresses an artist’s connection to a character or story that has had a meaningful impact on their life.  Creators of fan art enrich our understanding of our favorite tales, and can offer new perspectives into much-loved characters and stories. Our heroes inspire us on stage, in books, and on the screen; and fan artists take this inspiration to the next level.  Through their art, fan artists breathe new life into old tales, and inspire other fans to think about their favorite characters in new ways.  Imaginative and inspirational, the fan art exhibit at the Kingston Public Library seeks to provide a thought provoking experience for all visitors.

The fan art exhibit will be on display starting in July, but artists should begin working on their projects soon.  Creations can be submitted through June 22nd.  All media will be accepted, and submissions will be on display in the main lobby of the Kingston Public Library through the end of July.  The Kingston Public Library Art Committee will be judging the contest, and there will be prizes for the winners.

For more information, visit the library’s online calendar at www.kingstonpubliclibrary.org, contact the library at 781-585-0517 x 6284 or email hminsk@kingstonpubliclibrary.org.
