Parting Ways, located in the Mounts Hill Playne (Monk's Hill Plain), is a name seldom heard nowadays, although it used to be common enough. At a point not so very far from Mr. D. W. Gurnett's place at Muddy Pond, the ways or paths divide, one going to Plymouth, one to Middleboro through North Carver, and one to the Indian Pond neighborhood in Kingston.

Parting Ways is often the name given to the early 1800s settlement of "New Guinea" where four freed slaves lives and raised their families, after earning their freedom fighting during the Revolutionary War.
