Thanks again for your generous offer to help the Kingston Public Library! We will be in touch soon!

Volunteer roles

These are our current and upcoming opportunities for volunteers.

Greeters

Greeters will be scheduled for 2-hour shifts and will be stationed near the Library entrance.

We will train you to

  • welcome the public back to the Library
  • let people know what to expect and what’s required
  • monitor the number of people entering and leaving the building so we stay within occupancy limits
  • answer routine questions or refer questions to us
  • direct people to the right staff member or area

Storytime Readers and Presenters

Library programs are now online, both live on Zoom and as prerecorded videos. We’ll work with you to coordinate scheduling, solve technical issues, and promote your program.

We hope before long to resume offering programs in person.

Storytime Readers

Our first priority is for readers to create online storytimes for children from preschool to grade 2. Storytimes run for 30 minutes.

Presenters

Are you interested in creating other programs? We know there are many talented people in Kingston, and we invite you to propose a program for any age. You could teach a craft or a skill, or share your interests with the community.

Thanks for offering to help us re-invent and re-open the Library!

green highligher emphasizes volunteer in a page of textWe’re working towards welcoming the public back into the Library. Because we’ve had staff reductions, we need some help from volunteers.

The first opportunities are for volunteer greeters, storytime readers and program presenters. Other opportunities may be added to this list. Please note that we may not be able to accommodate everyone who applies, and that staff and volunteers will follow all recommended covid-19 safety requirements, including PPE.

To volunteer, please complete this form. If we’re able to match you with an opportunity, we’ll need you to sign a release form and agree to a CORI check.

If you have questions, please call Library Director Mike Slawson at 781-831-6273 or send him an email.

Thank you so much for your interest in the Kingston Public Library.

It is with great sadness that we have learned of the passing of US Navy Veteran and lifelong Kingston resident, Harold Malaguti at the age of 91. Harold was extremely proud of his 15 years serving in the Navy and the opportunity to see the world beyond the shores of his hometown. Many people remember Harold, his love of his prized vintage motor home, his daily walk to breakfast at the Early Bird and his kind heart. Thank you for your Service Harold. Rest in Peace. We posted this video over a month ago, and want to share it again because it's so important. If you haven't already watched, please take a few minutes to hear Dr. Elizabeth Ryan, of Integrated Counseling Centers in Plymouth, discuss what seniors can do to identify and combat anxiety and depression, along with strategies to maintain their mental health.
In this time where we are encouraged to stay apart, it's important to know that there are ways to maintain social relationships. youtu.be/KuBk9UivW4Q.

While we all remain safer at home, our friends at PacTV have been working hard to develop programming relevant to seniors and how they can stay active without leaving home. This regional programming guide provides a listing of programs covering exercise, health & wellness, education, and more, including the days and times that the programs will air.
