Volunteer roles

These are our current and upcoming opportunities for volunteers.

Greeters

Greeters will be scheduled for 2-hour shifts and will be stationed near the Library entrance.

We will train you to

  • welcome the public back to the Library
  • let people know what to expect and what’s required
  • monitor the number of people entering and leaving the building so we stay within occupancy limits
  • answer routine questions or refer questions to us
  • direct people to the right staff member or area

Storytime Readers and Presenters

Library programs are now online, both live on Zoom and as prerecorded videos. We’ll work with you to coordinate scheduling, solve technical issues, and promote your program.

We hope before long to resume offering programs in person.

Storytime Readers

Our first priority is for readers to create online storytimes for children from preschool to grade 2. Storytimes run for 30 minutes.

Presenters

Are you interested in creating other programs? We know there are many talented people in Kingston, and we invite you to propose a program for any age. You could teach a craft or a skill, or share your interests with the community.

Earlier this week we had a couple of issues that affected water quality. For example, the fire on Wright Court which used an enormous amount of water and the fire hydrant that was hit in front of the Charlie Horse Restaurant. Both of these instances forced a lot of volume through the mains. Discolored water has been experienced throughout town. We are working to resolve the issue. You may run cold water outside or in a bathtub for 10 minutes to see if the discoloration clears. ... See MoreSee Less

Important information for our Veterans seeking a COVID-19 vaccine.Veterans age 55+ who are enrolled in VA Healthcare are eligible to get the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine at the American Legion in Plymouth (Plymouth Post 40, 199 Federal Furnace Road) on Saturday, 2/27 from 10am-1pm, but be prepared...it will likely be very busy. The clinic is open to all veterans in the region who qualify so the VA is expecting a large turnout.

Vaccines will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis and Veterans must present a VA Healthcare or other proof of enrollment. Designated caregivers in the VA Caregiver Support Program are also eligible to get vaccinated.

Veterans can check their status in VA Healthcare by visiting www.va.gov/healthcare.
