    Online - LiveOnline - Pre-recordedIn person

Thanks again for your generous offer to help the Kingston Public Library! We will be in touch soon!

    Volunteer roles

These are our current and upcoming opportunities for volunteers.

    Greeters

Greeters will be scheduled for 2-hour shifts and will be stationed near the Library entrance.

    We will train you to

    • welcome the public back to the Library
    • let people know what to expect and what’s required
    • monitor the number of people entering and leaving the building so we stay within occupancy limits
    • answer routine questions or refer questions to us
    • direct people to the right staff member or area

    Storytime Readers and Presenters

Library programs are now online, both live on Zoom and as prerecorded videos. We’ll work with you to coordinate scheduling, solve technical issues, and promote your program.

We hope before long to resume offering programs in person.

    Storytime Readers

Our first priority is for readers to create online storytimes for children from preschool to grade 2. Storytimes run for 30 minutes.

    Presenters

Are you interested in creating other programs? We know there are many talented people in Kingston, and we invite you to propose a program for any age. You could teach a craft or a skill, or share your interests with the community.

Thanks for offering to help us re-invent and re-open the Library!

green highligher emphasizes volunteer in a page of textWe’re working towards welcoming the public back into the Library. Because we’ve had staff reductions, we need some help from volunteers.

The first opportunities are for volunteer greeters, storytime readers and program presenters. Other opportunities may be added to this list. Please note that we may not be able to accommodate everyone who applies, and that staff and volunteers will follow all recommended covid-19 safety requirements, including PPE.

To volunteer, please complete this form. If we’re able to match you with an opportunity, we’ll need you to sign a release form and agree to a CORI check.

If you have questions, please call Library Director Mike Slawson at 781-831-6273 or send him an email.

Thank you so much for your interest in the Kingston Public Library.

    Kingston Council on Aging

Next week begins our phased re-opening of the Senior Center, with limited programs being offered to Kingston Seniors! As we navigate this new way of welcoming friends back into the building, we want to remind everyone that the health and safety of our members, staff, and volunteers is always the priority, and therefore strict sanitation and social distance guidelines will be followed.

A limited number of exercise groups will begin, and some craft groups will be back in the building in small numbers. If you were a regular at the COA, but do not want to participate in the exercise or craft groups, we will be offering “Chat Groups” twice a week to provide the opportunity for in-person, socially distanced conversation with friends. All members wishing to attend ANY program WILL need to register, and will be asked a few health questions before they are allowed into the building. Mask are also mandatory while inside the building.

To register for a program, or for more information on activities and our re-opening procedures, contact Brenda Fitzgerald at 781-831-6042. We are looking forward to welcoming you back!
