March 22nd at 6:30 – Laughter Yoga with Robert Rivest
The current calendar year need not be invoked to make the point that there’s never been a better time than now for a good laugh. Laughter, other than being jolly good fun, helps to boost the immune system, increase oxygen intake, release endorphins and serotonin, reduce blood pressure, relieve stress, and promote emotional growth. With benefits like these, we should all laugh more. This is where Laughter Yoga can help.
Laughter Yoga combines interactive laughter exercises with deep centering breaths and calming movements. It is a joyful way to connect with others and it’s for all ages and backgrounds. It’s also an effective way to handle a bad mood or the blues. Laughter Yoga has been recommended by Dr. Mehmet Oz and Dr. Andrew Weil as well as Oprah Winfrey.
Robert Rivest will lead a Laughter Yoga session via Zoom on Monday, March 22 at 6:30 PM.
Mr. Rivest is an international performer and teacher. In addition to being a comic mime artist, he is also a health, literacy and stress relief educator, a mindfulness teacher, a certified laughter yoga master trainer and an engaging public speaker. Since 1990 Robert has given over 8,000 presentations in Europe, Asia, Africa and across the U.S. His mission is to use mindfulness, laughter and the performing arts to bring greater health and happiness to individuals and organizations around the world.
A Zoom link for this event will be included in a confirmation email after registration.

March 8th at 6pm – Trusts, Wills and Estate Planning
Having an estate plan is important for protecting one’s family and making sure everything they have worked for is taken care of. Estate tax attorneys in Boston and surrounding communities often counsel clients to create a revocable living trust due to the Massachusetts inheritance tax and the high home prices. Even modest estates can be subject to state estate tax. Creating a trust can minimize or eliminate the tax owed after death. Without an estate plan a court will decide who gets the assets based on state law rather than the individual deciding.
The Kingston Public Library is pleased to welcome Sean Hagan for the first of two online programs. The first program is on March 8th at 6:00 PM. Mr. Hagan will discuss estate planning and answer your questions.
Sean Hagan is a Partner at the Law Firm, Long Hagan Huff-Harris and primarily advises clients on estate and tax planning, as well as trust and estate administration matters. Mr. Hagan teaches a legal research and writing class to paralegal students at Bunker Hill Community College. He lives in Kingston.
A Zoom link will be sent in a confirmation email after registration.

Greeters will be scheduled for 2-hour shifts and will be stationed near the Library entrance.
We will train you to
- welcome the public back to the Library
- let people know what to expect and what’s required
- monitor the number of people entering and leaving the building so we stay within occupancy limits
- answer routine questions or refer questions to us
- direct people to the right staff member or area
Storytime Readers and Presenters
Library programs are now online, both live on Zoom and as prerecorded videos. We’ll work with you to coordinate scheduling, solve technical issues, and promote your program.
We hope before long to resume offering programs in person.
Storytime Readers
Our first priority is for readers to create online storytimes for children from preschool to grade 2. Storytimes run for 30 minutes.
Presenters
Are you interested in creating other programs? We know there are many talented people in Kingston, and we invite you to propose a program for any age. You could teach a craft or a skill, or share your interests with the community.

Visit a koala!
We’re happy to let you know that you can learn about koala bears and porcupines and more through the Roger Williams Zoo’s Preschool Adventures. It’s part of our Museum Pass programs, funded by the Friends.
